Kollegala: Widespread complaints are being heard from farmers in the rural areas of Kollegala taluk regarding the illegal transportation of cattle fodder from the surrounding farms of Kollegala taluk and Narseepur taluk.

Already the paddy crop has been harvested in the current season and paddy is being harvested in the fields around Mugur, Madralli and Talakadu in Narseepur taluk.

After the paddy is harvested, the paddy grass for livestock is illegally transported to Tamil Nadu by brokers from Tamil Nadu who buy the grass from the farmers.

Most of the paddy grown farmers are selling their paddy to people from Tamil Nadu due to the influence of brokers. Because of this other local farmers are not able to buy fodder for cows.

For the last one week, it is seen that the brokers from the Tamil Nadu side are buying paddy straw from Mullur and nearby villages of Kollegala taluk.

Due to this, other farmers who are rearing cows are not getting paddy grass. Even though the lorries full of grass are passing through the check post from the border of nearby Karnataka, the silence of the police and revenue department officials has raised many questions.

Several farmers have demanded that the Kollegala taluk administration, Hanur taluk administration and Chamarajanagar district administration immediately wake up and stop the illegal movement of cow fodder towards Tamil Nadu.
