Kollegala: A protest peace meeting was held in Chikkallur against the handing over of Sri Kshetra Chikkallur of Ghan Neeli Siddappaji, which has been traditionally held in front of the blueberry growers for years.

In the wake of the news published in the daily newspapers ordering the approval of the Sri Manteswami Constituency Nilgara Development Authority for the development of Manteswami Siddappaji constituencies and the heritage of Nilgaran farmers, the villagers and Nilgaran farmers of the surrounding villages of Sri Kshetra Chikkalur of Kollegala taluk held a peace meeting protesting against the transfer of Sri Kshetra to the authority.

The areas are a little behind in development, for that the government should take the initiative to develop it to a greater extent but in the name of development Ghan Neeli Siddappaji expressed regret that the heritage practices of the indigo growers should not be compromised.

Demand the Hon'ble Chief Ministers to immediately drop the resolution taken in the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on April 24 at Male Mahadeshwar Hill to form a development authority for Muttanahalli Doddammatai Constituency, Kappadi Constituency, Chikkallur Constituency, Kurubana Katte Constituency and Honnayakanahalli Bappegoudanapura Mutt of Malavalli Taluk. Shouted the slogan.

A petition was submitted to the tehsildar that Kollegala taluk Ghana Neeli Siddappaji's Shri Kshetra Chikkallur should not be handed over to any development authority and the daily Dasoha puja awards traditionally celebrated by millions of Siddappaji's neelagars should not be compromised.

In the protest peace meeting, there were the owners of Bandalli village, including the Neelgars of Sattalli, the administrator Bharat Raj Arasu, the Neelgars of Shagya village who build Chandramandal, and the youth of Siddappaji Neelgaras Association.
